What Muscogee County Voters Should Know Before Early Voting

Early voting is one of the most convenient ways for Muscogee County residents to make their voices heard. Whether you want to avoid Election Day crowds or simply need a more flexible schedule, here is everything you need to know before you head to the polls.

When Is Early Voting?

In Georgia, early in-person voting runs Monday through Friday during the two weeks leading up to Election Day. The second and third Saturdays before Election Day are also mandatory early voting days. Some locations may offer Sunday voting hours as well. Check the Muscogee County Elections & Registration Office or the Georgia My Voter Page for the most current dates and hours.

Where Can You Vote Early?

During early voting, you are not required to visit your assigned Election Day polling place. You may cast your ballot at any early voting location within Muscogee County. The primary early voting site is the Muscogee County Board of Elections & Registration office. Additional satellite locations are typically added closer to Election Day. Visit columbusga.gov/elections for a full list of locations.

What ID Do You Need to Bring?

Georgia law requires photo identification to vote in person. Acceptable forms of ID include:

  • Georgia Driver’s License (even if expired)
  • Valid state or federal government-issued photo ID
  • Valid U.S. Passport
  • Valid U.S. Military photo ID
  • Valid tribal photo ID
  • Georgia employee photo ID (state, county, or city)

If you do not have one of these, you can obtain a free Georgia Voter Identification Card through the Muscogee County Elections & Registration Office. You will need documentation of your identity, date of birth, voter registration, and residential address.

Are You Registered to Vote?

Before heading to the polls, confirm your registration status using the Georgia My Voter Page. The site will also show your assigned polling place, your sample ballot, and available early voting locations near you.

What to Expect at the Polls

Early voting lines are often shorter than on Election Day, but popular locations can still get busy — especially on the first and last days of early voting. Plan to arrive with enough time to wait if needed. Poll workers will check your ID, verify your registration, and direct you to an available voting machine or paper ballot.
