Miles Crossing Senior Residences Opens in Downtown Columbus, GA

Columbus celebrated a major community milestone this week as Miles Crossing Senior Residences held its grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony in downtown Columbus. The new development brings 90 units of mixed-income housing for residents ages 55 and older, representing a $26 million investment in quality senior living for the Muscogee County community.

The project marks the seventh mixed-income community completed through the long-standing partnership between Columbia Residential and the Housing Authority of Columbus, Georgia (HACG) — a collaboration that has steadily transformed affordable housing options across the city.

Built on the site of the former Booker T. Washington apartments near Fifth Street and Fifth Avenue, Miles Crossing features spacious one and two-bedroom apartment homes with designer-inspired finishes. The community is certified under the National Green Building Standard (NGBS) and meets ENERGY STAR® program requirements, ensuring residents benefit from lower utility costs, improved indoor air quality, and easy access to public transit.

The energy-efficient design is a particularly important feature for seniors on fixed incomes, helping stretch household budgets while providing a comfortable, modern living environment right in the heart of Columbus.

Thursday’s ribbon-cutting brought together community leaders, housing officials, and future residents to celebrate what organizers called a significant step forward for senior housing in Columbus. Miles Crossing is now leasing — for more information, visit Columbia Residential’s website.
