Columbus, Georgia hosts its inaugural Porchfest today — a free, walkable live music festival turning historic neighborhood porches into stages, with over 35 acts and an afterparty on the RiverWalk.
Columbus, Georgia is turning its historic streets into a live music festival today as the city hosts its very first Porchfest — and it’s completely free.
Running from noon to 6 p.m. in the Uptown Columbus Historic District, Porchfest transforms front porches into performance stages, with over 35 acts spread across more than 15 locations. Stroll from porch to porch and catch country, R&B, rock, soul, blues, and singer-songwriters — sometimes all at the same time. Several performers have appeared on NBC’s The Voice.

The event wraps up with an afterparty from 6–9 p.m. on Front Avenue by the RiverWalk, where Red & the Revelers from Mobile, Alabama will close out the night with what organizers describe as “a feel-good mix of rock, soul, rhythm, horns, and pure Southern energy.” The evening also includes a People’s Choice Awards ceremony honoring the crowd favorites from the day.
Beyond the music, Porchfest features kids’ activities, arts & crafts vendors, and food trucks. The event is handicapped-accessible and designed to be inclusive for all.

Festival producer Melody Kiser summed it up: “It really brings the community together in such a unique way. It’s a free event, so every income bracket will be able to come.”
Uptown Columbus President Steve Morse sees bigger potential, saying the festival “creates real momentum for our small businesses and reinforces Uptown as a vibrant cultural destination.”

Porchfest originated in Ithaca, New York in 2007 and has grown nationally — today Columbus joins the tradition, making its own mark on the map.
