Columbus Porchfest Debuts This Saturday — Free Music Across Uptown’s Historic District

Columbus is about to do something it’s never done before. On Saturday, May 2, Uptown Columbus transforms into a free, walkable music festival as local and regional musicians take over the porches of historic homes for the inaugural Columbus Porchfest.

The festivities run from noon to 6 p.m., giving you six hours to stroll the historic district, discover new artists, and soak up some Southern charm — all at no cost. Then the party moves to the Chattahoochee Promenade for an after-party concert from 6 to 9 p.m.

What to Expect

Think of it as a neighborhood block party turned music festival. You’ll wander from porch to porch catching performances spanning everything from classical and jazz to rock, country, R&B, and soul. Several of the featured artists have appeared on NBC’s The Voice, so expect some serious talent on those porches.

In between sets, browse local arts and crafts vendors lining the streets with handcrafted goods, original artwork, and jewelry. Food trucks will be on hand to keep you fueled, and there’s a dedicated children’s section with activities and games for the little ones.

Looking for a more elevated experience? A limited VIP package is available on the green space at the Coca-Cola Space Science Center.
